The first thing i got rid was my 3 years old 16 inches rollers. I got myself a set of brand new 16 inches wheels with 4 brand new tires.

The End Of Spoon Sports Part 1

The expiry date for Spoon Sports is near. It is time for a massive interior and exterior make over; here is a general list of what has been going in my mind since year 2009.

1) A total body kit change which includes front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts.
2) A color change, mostly black.
3) A different style wheel change.
4) A total black interior.
5) A total interior make over.

Suspension Make Over

Year end 2007, I finally got fed up again with lowered rides; under carriage scratches, cracked and teared body kits. Went to a chop-shop to get myself a front set of stock standard Honda Civic EG suspension. As for the rear, i was not satisfied with stock Civic EG's height; hence, i optioned for Honda Integra DA's rear suspension. After a day of DIY installation, this is the result; looks like a golf buggy. This suspension setup was so comfortable that i will not change another setup for now.

Spoon Sports Make Over

2nd setup in year end 2006, a total minor body kit make over with 16 inches rollers.


Interior not much changes except for a pair of semi bucket racing seats.

Suspension

Year end 2007, i got fed up with my hard G|A|B adjustable suspension. My balls shakes every time i fall into a minor pothole. Comfort was out of the question, it means, not comfortable at all. I decided to change to something different. I took my standard spring and cut 1.5 coils out carefully. I did this the DIY way but i didn't have pictures for it. The ride was much better than before and achieved a great ride height too. It was almost the same as my second set of springs, APEX from Japan.

Front; 2 fingers gap, just nice with 16 inches rollers.


Rear; 2 fingers gap.

Modifications

I had minor modifications to my engine only. As for now, all items are actually not in my car anymore. I sold them and converted almost everything to stock standard last year.

Washable air filter.


G|A|B Hi-Low adjustable suspension from Japan. 9kg/mm front and 6kg/mm rear spring rate. I miss this so much, corners are like straights with these on, brakes off!


Zenden Performance 4-2-1 extractor and 2 inches Marco full exhaust system.


Light weight 15 inches Germany Enkei RPF-1


Other than that, i have a set of lightened flywheel with Exedy clutch set with me. It is still lying in my store room. I took them out once i had a transmission transplant from manual to automatic. Lighten flywheel would greatly improve accelerations but it hurt top speeds. Love the flywheel so much but automatic transmissions don't use flywheels.

Adjusting Valve Clearance

"Tit tit tit tit..."; sound came from engine head indicates valve clearance are a little out. Other than that, there are many possibilities too; such as thin engine oil viscosity, minor knocking/pre-ignition, worn bushes and many more. How do we differentiate it? The "tit" of different problems are with different harmony although it sounds similar to "tit".

I only manage to snap this picture as my hands are soaked with oil stages after. By following procedures that a friend sent to me, i manage to complete the task. The results are great, a quieter and smoother engine.

Weird Encounter

"SSSCCEEETTTCCCHHHIINNGG!" All the way when i was driving. Went down for a visual check, found out that my front brake pads left just about 15%, without much considerations, i bought a set of new brake pads.



Removed my wheels. DIYed sprayed calipers to red sometime ago. Couldn't have chances to snap any pictures of it; but, in this post, you will see how i revert it back to black. Haha!

With some extra visual inspection, found out this was the culprit. Since i have bought my pads and i have dismantled my wheels, i carried on with the replacement.



Start with some lubrication.



Remove one out of two bolts.



Raise caliper and remove old pads.



By using a G-clamp, push in piston in order to install new thick pads. Remember to open your brake fluid reservoir cap before proceeding with the insertion.



Reinstall everything and remember to lubricate every single bolts and nuts with grease to prevent damages in future.



How about my red ugly calipers? Here it is; a simple black paint spray does the job.

Spoon Sports Adoption

People would thought of crashed replacements if they sees black panels attached to cars. Black hood and trunk is a symbol Spoon Sports back in year 2004.

Since then, a straight adoption was done. My hood and trunk were sprayed pearl black at the nearest paint shop in Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruang, Malacca.



This can be considered as my first setup. I ended up with this setup a while. Other than that, DIYed my set of wheels to pearl white.



Until present, the Spoon Sports trend is still as fresh as it was new. Here is an example of a Honda Civic FD with Mugen and Spoon Sports adoption.

Smoked Headlights

Smoking headlights were one of my best Do-It-Yourself sessions of all. The results were great with minimal cost.


Stock glass/quartz cover was opened with hot water.


Sections other than the reflector were sprayed with black paint before sealing it back with silicon glue; aquarium glue.


Great effect, try it!

Spark Plugs Cross Reference

I found this useful image somewhere. It is a heat range cross reference for various spark plugs manufacturers. A stock standard Normally Aspirated engine would usually with NGK 6 or NGK 5. Fed up with your current spark plugs manufacturer? Have a cross check here and try out others.
